Episode 44: Wits

Brand new segment testing our nature knowledge and how we would survive in the games is debuted. News stories include a hint at a new trailer and coverage of the KCAs. Chapter 18 of Catching Fire is discussed, as always questions come up. Does Katniss' family really believe she is pregnant? Would people judge Katniss and Peeta for getting pregnant if they hadn't gotten "married" before? Have Peeta and Katniss mastered the art of deception? Can Peeta survive only using his wits? Do the Capitol citizens even think to question the Games or is it too ingrained to obey the Capitol? To end the show we connect the rebellion to a song, read some listener emails, and recommend a classic dystopian book.

Episode 43: 1 Year Since The Games

The anniversary of The Hunger Games movie is celebrated as we reminisce. While playing a game with The Capitol Portraits we discuss why only select characters are holding white roses. Is this Katniss' wedding dress and Peeta's wedding suit? Why does Finnick wearing a kilt and looking like a pirate? We talk about Lionsgate's marketing strategy centered around social media. Loads of questions arise during our analysis of Catching Fire, Chapter 17. Why didn't Suzanne Collins develop Peeta's family as characters? Why do we never experience Peeta grieving over their deaths? Are Katniss and Peeta's acts during their private sessions rebellious? What did the other tributes do during their private sessions? Why did the Gamemakers give Katniss and Peeta a score of twelve?

Episode 42: Make Some Friends

Since it’s award season we got a few announcements in that category, along with some other Catching Fire movie news such as new posters. A mini review of Jennifer Lawrence's most recet movie, Silver Linings Playbook is featured. Chapter 16 of Catching Fire is analyzed where we are introduced to more tributes such as Beetee and Wiress. We ask ourselves if tributes that have modified their body through surgeries are allowed enter the arena in that state, or is that considered an unfair advantage? A review of the new iOS verison of Hunger Games Adventures video game is featured. We wrap up the show with a song, some listener emails and a new twist to the book recommendations.

Episode 41: Fatniss

In this Valentine's Day episode we feature one of our favorite special segments, Hunger Games Dating Game, where we portray anonymous HG characters on a dating game show. We cover Catching Fire news as well as a few awards won in the fandom. During our discussion of Catching Fire Chapter 15, we are introduced to many new victors including Finnick. We analyze Katniss and Finnick's relationship. We question why Chaff didn't accept a prosthetic arm. Would Darius and Katniss had a romance if she hadn't been a tribute? Would Katniss and Peeta have ended up like all the other victors as a celebrity if only one of them had made it out of the arena alive? We feature a fanfiction that takes place on Katniss and Peeta's first date. To end the show we relate a romantic song to Finnick and Annie's relationship.

Episode 40: Zing!

News stories center around Jennifer Lawrence's big week with awards, nominations, and hosting SNL. Francis Lawrence (Catching Fire Director) and Sam Claflin (Finnick) shed some light on how Finnick will be adapted to the big screen in an interview. An interview also revealed insight on how Francis Lawrence and Woody Harrelson (Haymitch) are developing Haymitch's character in the Catching Fire movie. While discussing chapter 14 of Catching Fire, we discuss the 50th Hunger Games including the relationship between Haymitch and Maysilee Donner. In the segment, Dark Duels, host debate on which character, Madge, Beetee, or Greasy Sae, would win in the arena against each other.

How are the tributes chosen, if multiple people volunteer, like in the career Districts? Is it harder to kill an elderly tribute or young tribute?

Episode 38: Bride To Be

We announce a giveaway for the Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook (signed by all us hosts!), to enter just follow @NightlockPod and RT this tweet! News stories include Jennifer Lawrence's new titles, a new HG reality show knock off, more leaked photos and an actor portraying two characters. New segment relates Greek Mythology to HG, specifically Diana, the Roman Goddess of the Hunt. While discussing Chapter 12 of Catching Fire, we contemplate why Haymitch and Plutarch didn't let Katniss in on the rebellion plans. Are Capitol citizens naive and oblivious because they were raised believing the Capitol's propaganda? Do you think Gale is motivated to be a catalyst in the rebellion because that is the only chance he has at being with Katniss romantically? Did the Capitol come up with the idea for the tributes to be selected from previous victors in order to halt the rebellion or had it been planned for decades? Don't forget to enter the giveaway!

Episode 37: Bad Boy

Report on 8 news stories including Suzanne Collins' new book, competition Catching Fire will face in theaters against other dystopian books, People's Choice Awards HG nominations, first look at Catching Fire filming, director confirmed for last 3 HG films, and the teaser trailer. In our chapter analysis we contemplate if Gale is the bad boy and Peeta is the golden boy. What defines a bad boy? What flaws does Peeta have? Is it more captivating to read a book with a character you can relate to or a character who is drastically different than you? If Katniss saw a fortune teller who informed her of Prim's fate would Katniss have still volunteered as a tribute?

Did the cement house in the woods exist before Panem, or did Katniss and her father build it? Should Katniss still attempt to run away with her family and friends or it is just a fantasy? Feature the What if...? segment where we discuss, what if Katniss hadn't volunteered for Prim and she had to go to the games, would Peeta have like tried to make an alliance with her if she had made it past the blood bath? Episode 35: Boring Blizzard

News includes tons of leaked pictures of sets and actors. The focus is on Chapter 9 of Catching Fire where we bring up questions. Would Peeta made a better leader and mockingjay for the rebellion? Could Katniss have rallied District 12 to replicate District 8's uprising? Is Katniss a piece in someone else's game? Is it external forces or internal forces that cause Katniss to hurt others around her? We feature a FanFic on the perspective of Peeta when he goes back to "take care of" the girl that lit the fire in the 74th Games. We end the show with some listener feedback and a book recommendation

We announce the nominations for PodCastAwards.com have started, please nominate Nightlock Podcast for the two categories Culture/Arts and General. Our new logo is revealed, along with an email subscription to stay updated with the show. News announcements include 3 more casting announcements which are probably the last. One of our most extensive chapter analysis on Chapter 8 of Catching Fire brings up many topics. Should the rebels killed Katniss as a martyr? Was Katniss a true leader? Why is the form of punishment so low-tech while in the districts it is high-tech? Would Katniss be open to counselling?
